Your starting pay as a five year trained teacher will be at least $48,425 pa plus superannuation and allowances.

ECU's Surf Science second year students Dirk Holman and Austin Armstrong are co-ordinating the largest amateur surfing event in WA, the Margaret River Classic.

“The students were selected after Classic management saw the way they handled the Surf Science competition in Yallingup this year,” says course co-ordinator Rob Holt. “These guys are stars and the industry knows it.”

Dirk is originally from South Australia and moved to WA to study Surf Science after years of working in the marine and fishing industries.

“I was very impressed with ECU South West and their facilities,” he says. “The experience I am gaining organising two surf competitions this year is really adding value to what I am studying.”

Dirk hopes to apply his degree toward a career relating to marine science.

The newly formed School of Communications and Contemporary Arts (SCCA) will be holding a series of exhibitions, performances and events during November and December to celebrate the work of its 2006 graduates in Multimedia, Design, Photomedia, Film and Video, Visual Arts and Contemporary Performance.

SCCA offers a range of programs, designed to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to live in, work in and contribute to the complex technological and creative culture of the 21st Century.

Ever wanted to be in a Samba drumming band? Well now you can!

Last month, the samba crew headed up the 'Make Poverty History' rally around Perth City Centre where thousands of people peacefully rallied Federal Government with the make poverty history message. The group also performed at Perth Glory's 10th anniversary home game at Members Equity Stadium and look set to be an ongoing fixture at future home games. They have also been booked to perform at various events in the Joondalup region this summer.

So why not be take part in the action and try out a free samba drumming class? Workshops are held weekly at 5pm on Tuesdays at the ECU Sports Centre in Joondalup. All equipment is supplied.

This year the West Coast Eagles and the Brisbane Broncos won the premierships for the AFL and NRL respectively. They have something impressive in common. Both teams have specialist strength and conditioning coaches who are students from ECU.

The Eagles have gained from the sports science expertise of Stuart Cormack (pictured left holding the Eagles premiership cup) and the Broncos got their edge from Daniel Baker (pictured top right). ECU has strong partnerships with many leading sports teams, providing sports science skills good enough to win championships.
