University preparation courses
We offer two University preparation courses:
- University Preparation Course
- University Preparation Course (Education Assistant Program)
The University Preparation Course (UPC)
The UPC is an alternative entry pathway to ECU.
On successful completion, we calculate an equivalent TER for you. A weighted average mark of 50 on the UPC fulfils minimum admission requirements into ECU.
On successful completion, students are eligible for entry to a wide range of undergraduate courses - dependent on prerequisites, minimum TER requirements and available places.
University Preparation Course (Education Assistant Program) [UPC (EA)]
The UPC (EA) is a specialist alternative entry pathway preparing you to be an Education Assistants and enabling entry to selected undergraduate teaching degrees at ECU.
On completion of the UPC(EA), students will understand how they can effectively support teachers in facilitating children's learning in a primary or secondary school setting.
Entry requirements
These courses are open to school leavers, recent school graduates under 20 years of age and non school leavers.
Special admission requirements
Applicants to the University Preparation Course (Education Assistant Program) need to demonstrate a genuine interest in childen and learning.

School Leavers must meet english competency requirements for University preparation courses and have studied a minimum of four subjects which may be any combination of:
- TEE, or
- WACE courses, or
- ECU Approved Wholly School Assessed (WSA)/ Commonly Assessed Framework (CAF) subjects

Applicants must accumulate a total of at least 8 points from these subjects, based on the following:
